Band Of The Week - Thin Lizzy

This weekend my band of the week is Thin Lizzy. This Irish hard rock band who formed in Dublin in 1969. Thin Lizzy is widely recognised as one of the first hard rock bands to employ double lead guitar harmony (the twin guitar clash) - a technique pioneered by Wishbone Ash in the UK, whilst independently in the USA by Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Allman Brothers Band.

Thin Lizzy in 1976

The band was originally led by bassist, songwriter and singer Phil Lynott. They are possibly best known for their 1976 song "The Boys Are Back in Town" - a major international hit still played on hard rock and classic rock radio stations. My most favorite song from Thin Lizzy is "Still in Love With You" in live version, the double guitar solo part is the most killer part for me. "Whiskey in The Jar" also another famous song and Metallica did the cover song in their Garage Inc. album. "Parisienne Walkways" is another my favorite sad tune.

This Lizzy - Parisienne Walkways

History (edited from wikipedia)

The group was founded in late 1969 in Dublin, Ireland, by Lynott, guitarist Eric Bell, electric organist Eric Wrixon and drummer Brian Downey. Wrixon was gone by early 1970, and tiring of the limited possibilities in Dublin, the group relocated to London in 1971.

Thin Lizzy

After a farewell tour in 1984, Lynott dissolved Thin Lizzy and focused on his solo career. Lynott continued his solo career, which he had begun while still with the group with the album Solo in Soho. Lynott died in January 1986, a victim of drug abuse. In the summer of the same year the band members reunited for the Self Aid concert in Dublin with Bob Geldof stepping in on lead vocals.

Phil Lynott

The remaining members of Thin Lizzy reunited in 1999 for a European tour and live album. Having toured with Deep Purple in the USA in 2004, Thin Lizzy are currently, as of 2006, touring the UK and Ireland. They will support Deep Purple again in April and May of 2007 for their UK tour. As of this moment there aren't any plans for an album release.

I Lost My Love!!!

What do you feel if you lost your love one? Sad? Upset? Disappointed?

How about if someone you know who steal your love one? Disappointed? Piss Off?

Today i just discovered one of my most love guitar gadget missing, and I suspect was stolen by one of my not-so-call close friend. I always keep my stuffs very well and organised. The guitar gadget I always kept in the original box when I was not using it. Today, I was planning to take it out and play on it, when I took the box I felt the box was so light, and I was saying in my heart FUCK already!!!

I just used it few times and it still brand new, now it gone like a wind. Two weeks ago my not-so-call close friend asked me to fetch him home, suddenly he changed his mind and wanted to come to my house for a while. When I was in my toilet, I heard he was finding something in my room, so I don't care at all. When I came out everything look alright, my camera still there, my MP3 player still there... then I fetch him to Bangsar LRT station, suddenly he changed his mind again and wanted me to send him to Bangsar so I just dropped him there.

I believe he is involve with loan sharks, he keeps on borrowed money from everyone. I can't borrow him because I also run off budget, if he is not desperate with money, how come suddenly call me? All the while he NEVER call me at all. I just help him what I can, is that be a nice person always got bad return? What the fuck???!!!

This is my love...

Digitech DF-7... this picture was taken when I got it months ago

Left only the box, warranty card and instruction book all gone too!

Damn it Mother Fucker!!!

P/S: I'll slow talk to him one day, if he admit it and say sorry I'll forgive him and take it as my gift for him to settle his problem. I don't want because of this small matter and create a bull fight. It's up to him if he wants to return me back my lost. Next time I'll be more careful about it.

At Last...

Today I tendered my resignation to my department, so I'm no longer with government anymore after 90 days. I've been planned this quite some time ago but I still hesitate to do it. After I got message from my friend that my new job has confirmed, I just handed my resignation letter to my administrator office. So... now I can close my final chapter servicing in government. I'll settle all my tasks before I leave to make it as a nice closing ceremony.

Now I have to get ready for my new working life, new management, new post, new faces, new responsibility... I'm ready to take the challenge now!

Life Goes On...

Diarrhea...

Diarrhea = 漏粪 = Cirit-Birit = Vaithalle = Lao Sai = Lai Si

Today I got Diarrhea so badly, now I really lost energy and so tired. I wonder why this time I so happy that I got 漏粪, everytime when I Cirit-birit I'll feel sad. It's been a long long time I never been Vaithalle, people said once a while Lao Sai is good because Lai Si can clean up your stomach, it's that true?

I suspect the roti canai banjir I had last night was the main cause for the diarrhea, the curry taste a bit weird than normal time, maybe the curry kept for too long. My stomach started feeling unwell since midnight, this morning somemore I took Tosai Bawang, really cari pasal... LOL

Happy Lao Sai!!! LOL

Meme: My Top 5 Favorite Movies

Oh No!!! Another tagged/meme post again. I was wondering why everyone like to tag me? This time I tagged by Moz Monster, he wanted to know my top 5 favorite movies. Anyway, I'm kinda lazy to watch movies, I really not sure which are my favorite movies all time. I'm more into watching rock concerts than movies. Anyway... I'll do my best here:

#1. Forrest Gump

I was holding my tears so badly when watching this movie, to me this is the most finest movie ever act by Tom Hanks. The lesson of this movie is never give up and fight for the right no matter how hard it is.

#2. Pink Floyd - The Wall

This is a rock opera concept album by Pink Floyd. To me, it's a most finest art work movie based on their The Wall album. If you really want to watch this, please make sure you are really free, off your mobile phone, relax your mind and enjoy it, if not it will blown out your brain.

The storyline portrays the fictional life of an anti-hero named Pink, who is hammered and beaten down by society from the earliest days of his life, having lost his father (killed in Anzio during World War II, as was Roger Waters' own), smothered by his over-protective mother, and oppressed at school by tyrannical, abusive teachers who tried to mould him and the other pupils into the "right" shape for society (hence the recurring image of the meat grinder). Pink withdraws into his own fantasy world, building an imaginary wall, an allegory for being emotionally distant to protect himself from the rest of the world. Every bad experience in his life is "another brick in the wall". After heavily contemplating how to fill in the last few empty spaces in the wall, Pink puts off its construction for a while. He becomes a rock star and gets married (although not to Vera Lynn, as some may think — she was an entertainer in the Second World War, the track "Vera" is ironic of the fact that Roger Waters and his father never did "meet again" after the war as Vera Lynn's original song stated), only to be cheated on by his wife due to his distance and coldness, as well as the life as a rock star. After this he resumes and eventually finishes building the wall... (from wikipedia)

#3. Lord Of The Ring : Trilogy

I don't know why I like it, usually I don't watch this kind of fiction movie. It's not because of popularity of the movie so I went to watch it. Somehow, I watch all 3 episods for the 1st premier show in cinema for 3 years! The effects of this movie really superb and I don't need to explain so much here, the awards they were winning is enough to say it all.

#4. School Of Rock

Jack Black did the nice job in this movie to teach the kids how to rock. You can learn a lot about rock musics in this movie. I really enjoy this movie together with the classic rock songs featured in this movie. The kids did very well in playing music instruments, if you watch properly, those kids play really play on it! No kidding man, they really can play and they really can rock!

#5. Shutter

I love horror, suspense and ghost movies, but none of it can really scare me. To me, this is the most finest ghost movie from Thailand and the storyline really blown me away. This movie actually based on a true story and the lesson of this movie is... DO NOT simply fool with any girl, the karma will back to you! I don't mind to watch this movie over and over again.

That's all about my top 5 favorite movies, I will not tag anyone here.

Happy Watching Movies...

Band Of The Week - Rush

This weekend my selection of classic rock band is Rush. This band contains only three great musicians but their music works are far better than any other bands. I just started learn and accepted their music recently after I crazy into another progressive rock band Dream Theater. As usual let's enjoy some of their famous musics works.

Rush - Limelight

Rush - Tom Sawyer

Rush - Force Ten

Rush - 2112 Overture, The Temples of Syrinx

About Rush (from wikipedia)

Rush is a Canadian rock band comprising bassist, keyboardist, and vocalist Geddy Lee, guitarist Alex Lifeson, and drummer and lyricist Neil Peart. Rush was formed in the summer of 1968, in Willowdale, Ontario by Lifeson, Lee, and John Rutsey. Peart replaced Rutsey on drums in July 1974, two weeks before the group's first U.S. tour, to complete the present lineup. Since the release of the band's self-titled debut album in 1974 Rush has become known for the instrumental virtuosity of its members, complex compositions, and eclectic lyrical motifs drawing heavily on science fiction, fantasy, and philosophy, as well as addressing humanitarian/environmental concerns.

Rush in 1974

Musically, Rush has changed its style dramatically over the years, beginning in the vein of blues-inspired heavy metal on their eponymous debut to styles encompassing hard rock, progressive rock, a period dominated by synthesizers and, more recently, modern rock. Rush's three decades of continued success under the lineup of Lee, Lifeson, and Peart have earned the band the respect of their musical peers. Rush has influenced various modern artists such as Metallica, The Smashing Pumpkins and Primus, as well as many notable progressive metal bands such as Dream Theater and Symphony X.

Rush in 1979

Rush has been awarded several Juno Awards and was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1994. Over the course of their career, the individual members of Rush have been recognized as some of the most proficient players on their respective instruments with each member winning several awards in magazine readers' polls. As a whole, Rush boasts 23 gold records and 14 platinum (3 multi-platinum) records, making them one of the best-selling rock bands in history. These statistics place Rush fifth behind The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, KISS and Aerosmith for the most consecutive gold and platinum albums by a rock band. Rush ranks 78th in U.S. album sales according the RIAA with sales of 24.5 million units.

Rush in 1991

Neil Peart

Peart is widely regarded by music fans, drummers, and fellow musicians as one of the greatest drummers in the history of rock, this high esteem continuing today as it has throughout his playing career. He is also regarded as one of the finest practitioners of the in-concert drum solo.

Neil Peart
Geddy Lee

Apart from prolific writing, musical influence, and instrumental prowess, Geddy Lee's high-register vocal style has always been a main signature of the band — and often a focal point for criticism, especially during the early years of Rush's career when Lee's vocals were high-pitched, with a strong likeness to British hard-rock singer Robert Plant. In fact, his voice is often described as a "wail". Nevertheless, Lee's voice has softened significantly over the years and still remains distinctive. His instrumental abilities, on the other hand, are rarely criticized. An award-winning musician, Lee's style, technique, and virtuosity on the bass guitar have proven very influential in the rock and heavy metal genres, inspiring such players as Steve Harris of Iron Maiden, John Myung of Dream Theater, Les Claypool of Primus, and the late Cliff Burton of Metallica.

Geddy Lee

Alex Lifeson

Instrumentally, Lifeson is regarded as a master guitarist, a pioneer of electronic effects and chord structures. During his adolescent years, he was influenced primarily by Jimi Hendrix, Pete Townshend, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page.

My First Time - Tagged Post

This is not my first time being tagged by Chen, I lost count already. This meme/tag is about my first time in my life. I got so many 'first time' in my past, so headache don't know which one to tell...

#1. My first time serious into watching sports.

I started learn to watch football, Formula 1 and 500cc when I was in standard one. I was influenced by my uncle who love to watch these kind of sports. That time I still don't know who is who in the game. I just simply support the football team with red jersey because my elder brother likes to choose blue team. That's why my favorite team is Manchester United and my second favorite is Liverpool (weird huh?) until now. About Formula one, my favorite drivers are Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, Nigel Mansell, Niki Lauda in that era. For 500cc were Freddie Spenser, Eddie Lawson, Wayne Gardner, Randy Mamola, then... Michael Doohan, Kevin Schwantz and my all time hero is Wayne Rainey.

#2. My first time stepped into girl school

Back to when I was in form 4, I represented my school to play Badminton for MSSPP (Majlis Sukan Sekolah-sekolah Pulau Pinang) tournament, the event was held in Penang Girl School. Me and some teammate were about walked into the school, we saw all only girls in the school. We were so nervous because all the girls were staring at us, some whistle towards us, and that was my first time been whistled by girls. That time I was still an innocent boy lah... very easy get shy mah... LOL. Then we all lost in our games, we really can't concentrate our games, all the girls were inside the hall to watch cute guys there, of course they aren't look at me lah.

#3. My first time donated blood

That was my 1st semester when I studying in Polytechnic. I saw got blood donation campaign in my campus, so I went for a try. At first was a bit nervous because I still don't know what blood type I am. After check this and that... all criteria passed, then I only know I'm O+ve blood type. The doctor was smile so evilly and told me they were looking for this type of blood. They started poke into my right arm, my blood flow too slow, then they changed to my left arm, my blood flow so fast like water pipe. At first the blood bag only mentioned to get 400cc of my blood because I was the first timer to donate my blood. Suddenly the nurse look at other donator and forgot mine, then I donated about 500cc they only realized. The doctor felt so sorry with me and asked to rest for the rest of the day. In the evening I went to play badminton somemore and I felt nothing wrong at all.

#4. My first time ride my motorbike in Kuala Lumpur.

Back in 2002, I moved to KL for work. On my first day ride my bike to work, I started my journey on 6.30am because I afraid will get lost. I was staying at Sri Petaling that time and wanted to go my office near Parliament that area. I don't know how I ride my bike until near to National Zoo! Then I was so panic and don't care anymore, just follow the road sign to KL city center. Who knows I did a mistake again, I don't know how I ride to Bangsar. Then I turned back and look for Parliament Road and just follow it. Suddenly I went inside the Parliament, and I saw 3 policemen took out their guns and pointed at me, they asked me to stop my bike and off the engine. They checked everything on my bike, my bag and my wallet, after they saw nothing then only asked me why I came into Parliament? I explained... I was missing a turn and was my first day ride in KL, I told them my office name then they only laugh at me and showed me how to go... When I reach my office was already 9.30am, my boss laugh at me because he knew I was lost... now you can laugh at me with this... how crap am I!!!

#5. My first time drink beers

That time I was 21 years old, then only started how to drink alcohol drinks. I finished my certificate and started to work with a sub contractor before I continue my diploma. Then my worker pulled me to a cafe nearby my house for drink. I still remember I drank Anchor Ice beer. For the first time I can drank up to 3 bottles and still steady. I was so surprised how I did that? Don't get me wrong, I'm not a good drinker until now. I just like to drink but not with huge amount.

Alright, that's all about my first time...

Wake up!!! Don't fall sleep!!!

5 Things U Dunno About Me (Tagged Post)

Ah... Not again! This time Chen balas dendam (revenge) after I tagged her the 70 Questions. Luckily this time only 5 things that you all don't know about me, but I have to take a long long time to think what I gonna write until my gray hair getting more again... LOL

Here we go... jeng jeng jengggggggggggg®

  1. I'd been knocked down and fainted for few minutes during my football (soccer) game when I was in Form 4. After I woke up, I lost my memory and I can't even recognized anyone included my elder brother. I can't even speak a single word. Luckily after about 3 days my memory fully recovered back. After this incident I really got phobia to play football until now.
  2. I spent most of my time in my room with my own entertainment corner when I'm at home (picture at below). I don't like to go out when I'm in Kuala Lumpur. But eveytime I went back to my hometown, I always went out with my old friends.
  3. When I drink (alcohol), I only drink more at home, I don't really drink outside like in pubs or clubs if I'm driving. I hate to go places got GRO/PRO for drink, I'll feel uncomfortable with it, I only go to places got good live bands or good musics.
  4. I have love and fear with water. I love water alot, but I can't swim and I fear with water. I always think that how come my current job is related with water, if I fall into it how I gonna survive? I did learn many times, but I failed.
  5. I was a very hot tempered person when I was schooling. My mom always said I'm like a cobra, abit abit will get angry and throw out my anger. Since I started work, I learn alot and now improve alot. I'd learn that bad temper will not get any benefit to myself.
My entertainment corner

This time I only tag Iwan Sanchez because he told me before to tag him if I got tagged by someone... Wakakakaka.

Band Of The Week - Aerosmith

My choice for this weekend classic rock band is Aerosmith. Since my last Band Of The Week about The Rolling Stones, many readers confused that both bands lead singer is the same, but they are different person. Both of them also have same 'big mouth'.

The selection of songs will be my all time favorite Dream On. This song was copy by Eminem in Sing For The Moment, but I prefer the Aerosmith's version. Next will be Cryin', a powerful tune that really rocks! Following will be Janie's Got A Gun, reminds me a comedy movie, I forgot the title, a man tried to tackle a girl's name Janie, he sang that song then police came and caught Janie away... LOL. Lastly will be Pink, who say rocker don't like Pink colour? My favorite band is Pink Floyd somemore.

About Aerosmith (from wikipedia)

Aerosmith is a prominent American rock band, often regarded as "America's Greatest Rock and Roll Band".

Aerosmith

Although they are known as "the bad boys from Boston", none of the members are actually from the city. Three of the members, Steven Tallarico (Tyler), Joe Perry, and Tom Hamilton had originally met in Sunapee, New Hampshire in the late '60s, but had not yet formed a band together. Tyler was from Yonkers, New York, Perry from Hopedale, Massachusetts, and Hamilton from New London, New Hampshire. In 1970, the three decided to form a band and decided that Boston, Massachusetts would be the ideal home base.

History

The formation of Aerosmith began in the late 1960s in Sunapee, New Hampshire. Steven Tyler was a drummer/vocalist originally from Yonkers, New York who had been in a series of relatively unsuccessful bands in the mid-late 1960s such as the Vic Tallarico Orchestra, the Strangeurs/Chain Reaction, The Chain, Fox Chase, and William Proud. In 1969, while vacationing in Sunapee, New Hampshire, Tyler met Joe Perry, who was at the time playing in a band called the Jam Band with bassist Tom Hamilton and drummer David "Pudge" Scott, while Perry was washing dishes at the Anchorage in Sunapee Harbor, New Hampshire. This meeting would eventually lead to the formation of Aerosmith.

Perry and Hamilton moved to Boston, Massachusetts in September of 1970. There they met Joey Kramer, a drummer from Yonkers, New York who had also known Steven Tyler, whom he had always hoped to perform in a band with. Kramer, a Berklee College of Music student, decided to quit school to join the band. In October of 1970, they met up once again with Steven Tyler, who was originally a drummer and backup singer, but adamantly refused to play drums in this band, insisting he would only be in the band if he could be the frontman and lead vocalist. The band agreed and thus Aerosmith was born. The band added Ray Tabano, a childhood friend of Tyler, as rhythm guitarist and began playing local shows. In 1971, Tabano was replaced by Brad Whitford, an educated and highly skilled guitarist, who also attended the Berklee School of Music and was formerly of the band Earth Inc. Other than a period from July 1979 to April 1984, the line-up of Tyler, Perry, Hamilton, Kramer, and Whitford has stayed the same.

Achievement

Aerosmith, who have been performing as the original lineup for the past 22 years, have sold 140 million albums worldwide, 66.5 million albums in the United States alone, making them the second bestselling American rock band (and also the most successful American hard rock band of all time), second only to The Eagles. They also hold the record for the most gold, platinum, and multi-platinum albums by an American group. The band has scored twenty-one Top 40 hits, nine #1 Mainstream Rock hits, and four Grammy awards. They continue to tour relentlessly, averaging a million dollars a show. Their musical evolution over the years has made them major innovators in American hard rock, heavy metal, pop, glam metal, blues, and R&B, and has inspired legions of rock artists that came after them. Their numerous contributions to other forms of media have made them pop culture icons. The band has a loyal fanbase numbering over a million worldwide, known as the Blue Army, that has equally spanned the last three generations. Aerosmith's longevity, durability, and adaptability have allowed them to sustain a high level of popularity and acclaim, for the better part of the 37 years they have been active.
