Number 11

When you read on this post, yes... I'm shifting again and this is my 11th time shifting my accommodation in 1.5 years working in UAE.

I was shifting from Abu Dhabi to Dubai then to Abu Dhabi and then Dubai... Then Abu Dhabi again now... In Dubai I also shifted from one place to another places. I'm getting numb of it now, I think my next move will be back to Malaysia.

I think I should get an honorable award on my shifting accommodation, my colleagues also suggested to nominate me into Book of Guinness World Records 2009. I was like errrrr..... I became another joke stories in my working company. So I'm the record holder so far, at least I can be proud on it...

Should I nominated in world record as most shifting accommodation?

Anyway, this time the shifting if more benefit to me, I no need to travel from Dubai to Abu Dhabi everyday to work, so I can save almost 3-4 hours journey on the road into my sleeping/rest time.

The only thing I upset is no internet connection in my new accommodation, I have to go other accommodation to online after this, so my blog will not able to update so often after this, hope you all understand it.

New Life

As I mentioned before in my previous post, I'm now working on Abu Dhabi Formula One race track project.

This project really bigger than I imagine, although there were news talking about this project is on schedule, but we all are pushing beyond our limit to meet the completion target date. This track will host the final race of this season, it will be very nice if this final race to determine who will be the world champion in this track.

Few days back I heard some news that this project might on hold, right now anything can happen due to the economy situation, but I really hope it was a rumour, I don't want it happens again on my working company.

That's my latest 'war suit', no more green safety helmet and orange vest which was wrong colour code for my position in my previous project. So, no more wearing 'green hat' and I wish my 'lady fate' will change better now... hahaha.

New Beginning!

Arrived, but...

This post is a mixed feeling post and more related to my previous post about 'Long Waited'.

Happy:

The day I touched down Dubai and back to my accommodation, I saw the book about 'Black Strat' has arrived. Many thanks to my old best friend Arthur & Vera, they send it from Canada all the way. I really love this book and it makes me feel MUST get the 'Black Strat' guitar, this will be my only dream guitar for the rest of my life!

The Black Strat Book

Another happy moment is after my long waited, finally one of concert DVD I wanted is selling in Dubai. Actually I was looking for other concert DVD (David Gilmour - Live in Gdansk), then I saw Dream Theater - Chaos in Motion is already sold here. Without any second thought I just grabbed it home to enjoy it.

Dream Theater - Chaos in Motion

Sad & Frustrated:

This year the musical events in Dubai are very down compare to last year. Maybe is due to the economy crisis. In last year the Dubai Jazz Fest was so happening, so many performers were here to perform on several stages, furthermore the Jazz Fest was held everyday more than a week, the first week entrance was free, I remember I went to few of the Dubai Jazz Fest free concert to enjoy the music.

This time the Dubai Jazz Fest really disappointed me, only three performers and no more free entrance.

Dubai Jazz Fest 2009

I just wonder since when James Blunt was rated as jazz artist. I really couldn't understand with it.

The next big disappointment for me this time is the Dubai Desert Rock Festival 2009, this year only one day event, and all only heavy metal bands. Anyway I just only know Motorhead, the rest I don't event know who they are. I'm not so into metal music afterall.

Last year the Dubai Desert Rock Festival 2008 was held 2 days in a row, first day only metal bands and second days were hard rock bands. The organiser promised to bring more super bands in this year, but when I look at it, it's really a big disappointment to everyone.

Desert Rock Festival 2009

Finally the most big big disappointment for me is 'David Gilmour - Live in Gdansk' still not selling in Dubai. I wonder, since the concert DVD released ealier than 'Dream Theater - Chaos in Motion', why it's still not available in Dubai?! I believe David Gilmour's concert DVD will be very much best selling than Dream Theater's concert DVD since the Pink Floyd concert DVD is number one best selling in Virgin Megastore here.

Right now I really feel want to bang my head to the wall, why this place do all the things upside down?

Speechless...

Funny Words

This few days I wanted to familiar my new project in Abu Dhabi (F1), so my colleagues brought me to site visit to know more about site conditions.

I found out some signages were so funny with wrong spelling. I manage to snap one of it, I told my colleagues than only they realised the mistake has been made by others, everyone were laughing so loud on it...

Guard Room or Gurd Room?

I can see all the guard rooms has been written as 'Gurd Room', after I told all, everybody were laughing till forgot their tension on work. I also saw another wrong spelling on 'Foreman' became 'Fourman', I really have lots of big laugh during my site visit with my colleagues, most of them are big time jokers too, I really started enjoying to work here now. Now I believe the wrong spelling or words not only happened in China which everyone has making the big laugh on it, I think it happens everywhere.

Just now I was talk cock with my colleague about funny words, then he came out with one country name which I was laughing till my tear came out. He said 'Singapura' (Singapore in English) that in Malay word meaning is Singa-Pura, that mean in Chinese word is '狮子假装' and in English is 'Lion Pretend'.

I think most of us work until crazy, when all together talk cock sure everyone were laughing non-stop to forget all the pressure / tension on work. I think it is a good way to release our tension rather than doing unhealthy activities.

Anyway, I will be more in office work to sort out all QAQC matters than working on site, actually I prefer to work both sides (Office & Site), but there are so many Architectural material matters need to be sorted out in site office, so the management wanted me to sort it out in order to make sure site works are working smooth.

WAKAKAKAKAKA!!!!

New Challenge

I've been transferred to other project start from today after I resume my work yesterday in Dubai. As what I expected I'll be transferred to Abu Dhabi for the new challenge.

I was little bit of surprised that my transfer was so soon, anyway... I'm happy with it, I like new challenges. This time I really got what I wanted for so long, right now I'm involving with Formula One race track project in Abu Dhabi.

Previously my working project was horse racing track, and now is Formula One racing track. In other words is like from 1 horsepower to 800-1000 horsepower. I love Formula One sport since I was in primary school, now I'm involve in the construction of the circuit, hopefully I can manage to watch the race which has been scheduled in this year racing calender.

I probably will be shifted my accommodation (again) from Dubai to Abu Dhabi in 1-2 weeks time according to the management has look after accommodation for us.

Finally I wish everything will be going smooth and finish it for the race, and I have to work more harder to achieve the target, I'm ready for it!

Formula One!!!

My CNY Trips

This Chinese New Year holiday to me is another busy trip, the 2 weeks off is still not enough time for me to meet up all my friends. Anyway, it wasn't a good holiday to me as the first day I touched down to Malaysia I had food poisoning, my food hunting was gone for the first few days.

As usual the first day of CNY is my family gathering day, this few years was not as happening as old days, not all relatives were come on the first day.

On the 3rd day of CNY, my boss & project manager came down to Penang for holiday, so I brought them to tour the places they haven't been so far.

Sam Po Gong

At first I brought them to Sam Po Gong at Batu Maung to see the legendary Cheng Ho's big foot print.

View from Sam Po Gong

After that we went to Penang New World Park for famous Penang foods. I didn't take any food pics as so many bloggers posted it before so many times. After that we went up to Kek Lok Si temple, it was so conjusted and by the time we reached, all also tired. We just have a short walk there and I didn't manage to snap more photos.

On the 5th day of CNY, I went down to Kuala Lumpur. This time I was planning to meet as much friends as I can, but I failed again... So many were outstation or busy with own families.

The 6th day of CNY, so coincident my favorite guitarist 'Fasy' was playing at my regular pub 'Backyard Pub' in Sri Hartamas. Since I never met him more than 2 years after he became international super star guitarist, so I don't want to miss this chance!

Fasy & Great local musicians

As usual, he is still friendly as he was, when he met me he was so surprised then greet me. We had a short chit chat and I hope he will play in Dubai or Abu Dhabi soon.

My KL trip was so rush, luckily manage to meet up my old blogger gang, Wingz, Han, Golfnick & Penny. This time the meeting was too short, I still have other meeting with my boss & manager on the same day. I hope my next trip to meet up them will be much longer, I really missed the laughter session that we used to have.

Yesterday I came back to my hometown Butterworth, and suddenly the environment here is much more quiet compare to first few days of CNY. I think most of them were back to work, so everything is back to normal here.

Today I went to Penang island to meet up another blogger, Erina Law. Finally I got chance to whack my favorite Penang Asam Laksa opposite of Peng Hwa Girl School, it's been more than 3 years I don't have the chance to eat it. Then I rush to meet up some old friends.

Penang Ferry

It's been long long time I never travel to Penang island by ferry, really miss the moment during my lower six school time & working time in Penang many years ago.

I always love this scene

Heritage buildings nearby KOMTAR

I'm trying to organise a meeting with my old schoolmates tomorrow before I fly back to Dubai on Friday. Time really flies, it's almost 2 weeks I've been in Malaysia, but I felt like I done nothing much, I really wish can drag the time to stay longer here.

Anyway, I'm ready to resume my work in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, maybe my next trip back will be permanent station in Malaysia if no more new project in Middle East. Let's wait and see what will happen next, nobody can predict it yet.

Adios!!!
