An Evenful Xmas

On Christmas eve, Nyonya Penang, Ah Nel and myself visited Pisang Goreng in UH (Universiti Hospital) after his Neurofibromatosis (NF) operation. To me was the first time I met Pisang Goreng in real life. He is doing well now and he wants to thank everyone who send regards and pray for him.

At first I was so pity about Pisang Goreng and I don't know what to talk, luckily Nyonya Penang started the conversation so well then we all chit chat for some time. After visited him, three of us went down to the cafe for some drinks and chit chat again... LOL...

Anyone want to visit Pisang Goreng in this week, you can look for U0919, 9th floor, bed no. 19. He was very happy to see us visited him, and I'm sure he'll be even more happy if more people go to visit him.

*******************************************

Went back home, I received my one and only Christmas present! Yeah... yeah... guess what I got? I got 3 packs of G-Strings!!! Wakakakakaka!!! Wanna see it? Here we go...

.
.
.
.
.

Got XL size G-String somemore... LOL

That's the G-Strings I mean lor... You think what? Ngek ngek ngek... It's Electric guitar strings. Thanks to Arthur and Vera, both of you so sweeeeeeet.

******************************************

In the evening, we all went to Carnegie's to celebrate the Christmas, remember my old post about 'Rock and Roll Music is Dead?!' I condemned the pub so badly because they don't play rock musics at all. This time is different, we requested rock songs, and they played it! The boss and managers came and chit chat with us some more. They are going to change the whole place into something like fine dinning place, but after some discussions, they are willing to listen more opinions to get more customers.

Carnegie's Kuala Lumpur

We were so enjoy and get crazy for the Christmas party. At the same time, I met one of the manager who is really die heart fan of Pink Floyd! We were chatting about it and he said will play the entire Pink Floyd - PULSE concert on Tuesday after lunch, I'll be there on Tuesday, who want to join? Please come and join me... :)

*******************************************

On Christmas day, I woke up at afternoon, then I straight to my colleague's Christmas open house for my 'brunch' and some beers, then chit chat with people around and made some friends.

Now I'm looking forward my New Year celebration in Langkawi with a group of my friends, I'm sure we'll have more fun and laughter.

Looking forward for new year new evolution!!!

About Journey (from wikipedia & Journey official website)

Journey is an American rock band formed in 1973 in San Francisco, California. The band has gone through several phases since its inception by former members of Santana.

Journey

History

In December 1971, Gregg Rolie, the organist and vocalist and co-founding member of Santana, decided that it was time to leave the band, due to longstanding disagreements with Carlos Santana about the musical direction of the group. He went home to Seattle and opened a restaurant with his father.

While all this was going on, there was another face on the scene; the road manager for Santana, Walter "Herbie" Herbert. After an abortive South American tour, Herbert was on Carlos’ bad side. Herbie and Santana guitarist Neal Schon had become good friends on the tour. Herbie had the idea to take Schon and form a new band around his guitar-playing talents. After Schon parted ways with a Larry Graham side project that would eventually become Graham Central Station, he agreed. Herbert was able to get George Tickner (guitar) and Ross Valory (former bassist for the Steve Miller Band) who were at the time playing in Frumious Bandersnatch (another band that Herbie managed) to join Schon and form a new band. Prairie Prince (drums), who was already with The Tubes, was recruited to join the new effort.

Journey

Journey’s initial style was progressive jazz-rock, complete with extended and improvised solo spots, a style much in evidence on their first three albums for Columbia Records. In April 1975 Tickner bowed out of music to attend Stanford Medical School. He was eventually replaced by ex-Alien Project vocalist, Steve Perry.

The switch to their signature highly sophisticated rock occurred with the recording of their hugely successful album, Infinity. Journey’s drummer, Aynsley Dunbar, was unhappy with this new style and left for Jefferson Starship, to be replaced by legendary drummer Steve Smith. The band’s next release, Evolution followed and brought the band their first US Top 20 hit, "Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin".

THAT OLD QUESTION BUT IT-ANSWER

CHILD: Dad, where did I come from?

DAD: Okay, we had to have this conversation some day!.. Listen... Dad and mom met in a chat room on the net. I set up a meeting with your mom and we landed in the bathroom at the Cyber Cafe. Then, mom did some downloads from dads memory stick and when dad was ready to upload, we discovered that there was no firewall. Seeing that it was a bit too late to cancel, I just carried on doing the upload.

Nine months later, the damn virus appeared!.

Band Of The Week - The Who

First of all I would like to announce that our Together-Gather Bloggers Party has been postponed to 9th March 2007.

This weekend my selection of classic rock band is The Who. Maybe you'll ask, Who are they? I just can answer you all by posting up few songs from The Who. Let's enjoy some of my favorite from The Who. One of their most famous entry is "Baba O'Riley", I think most of you might listened it before from somewhere. Next is "Behind Blue Eyes", I believe majority of youngster thought this song is from Limp Bizkit, but the original version is from The Who. Finally my another favorite is "My Generation".

About The Who (source from wikipedia)

The Who are an English rock band who first came to prominence in the 1960s and grew in stature to be considered one of the greatest rock 'n' roll bands of all time. Except for periods of retirement from 1983 to 1988 and from 1990 to 1995, the band members have continued to perform as a live act. Their most recent studio album, Endless Wire, was released in 2006.

The Who in 1960's

Noted for the dynamism of their performances and for their thoughtful and art-influenced music, the members of The Who are also acknowledged as rock pioneers, popularising, along with contemporaries The Kinks, the power chord and the rock opera (most notably Tommy). Their earlier "mod" albums, which boasted short, aggressive pop songs, Pete Townshend's distinctive power chords, Keith Moon's explosive drumming, John Entwistle's nimble bass style, Roger Daltrey's powerful vocals, and constant themes of youthful rebellion and romantic confusion, were formative influences on hard rock and power pop, while their loud and violent concerts helped pave the way for punk rock and heavy metal. In their early days they were notorious for auto-destructive art displays, destroying their instruments at the end of shows (an activity favoured both by infamous wildman Moon and by Townshend, whose guitar-smashing would become a rock cliché).

The Who

History

In their earliest days the band was known as The Detours and played mostly rhythm and blues. They changed their name to The Who in 1964 and, with the arrival of Keith Moon that year, the classic line-up was complete. For the next 14 years The Who would be Roger Daltrey on lead vocals, Pete Townshend on guitar, John Entwistle on bass guitar, and Keith Moon on drums. They became one of the most popular bands among the British Mods, a social movement of the early 1960s which rejected the "greaser" music favoured by the Rockers.

The Who

The Death of John Entwistle

Just before the outset of a tour in the summer of 2002, John Entwistle was found dead in his room at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. A coroner's investigation revealed that while not technically an overdose, a modest amount of cocaine in his system was a contributing factor in a fatal heart attack, the result of years of heart trouble caused or aggravated by regular cocaine use, hypertension, and decades of smoking. After a brief delay, the tour commenced with bassist Pino Palladino.

John Entwistle, greatest and most influenced rock bassist in history

From mod rockers to rock operas to hard rock, The Who reigned triumphant as prime contenders, in the minds of many, for the title of World's Greatest Rock Band. - The Who's display at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

No More Rock Concerts in Malaysia?

I wonder what happen to our country's music industry. Did you all notice that now days no more International Rock Bands held their concerts in Malaysia anymore? Why they only held in our neighbours' country?

Since tobaccos and alcohols name banned for advertisement and sponsorship, concerts in Malaysia getting less and backwards in terms of quality. Is that no other companies willing to sponsor grand concerts anymore? Remember those days Salem Cool Planet sponsored many rock concerts such as Deep Purple, Scorpions and many more in early years.

Less than a month will be year 2007 and on that year is Visit Malaysia Year 2007. Imagine without these all 'big name' rock bands, how do we push this campaign? Many foreigners are willing to travel all the way to Malaysia to watch their favorite bands live in Malaysia.

Without international rock bands live in Malaysia, how do we push our local musicians into international level? Yes, we do have 'Rock Unite' and others for local rock bands to compete, what I see they are not bad, but they are still not into international level. They still need more exposures to see how the international rock bands play on stage with their own eyes.

I was very frustrated when I heard Eric Clapton is coming to Singapore for his concert in January 2007, then to Bangkok, Thailand. Why not in Malaysia?!!!

Eric Clapton

My favorite rock band Dream Theater had their concert early this year in Bangkok then to Singapore, not in Malaysia!!! Why???!!!

Dream Theater

Recently I heard Yngwie Malmsteen canceled his concert in Malaysia and only held in Singapore, that really disappointed me alot!!!

Yngwie Malmsteen

Middle of this year Red Hot Chili Peppers had their Asia tour and held in Bangkok, not in Malaysia again!!!

Red Hot Chili Peppers

What I see rock musics in Malaysia really dead! I don't mind they banned 'Black Metal' music, but Rock n Roll musics are not all into satanic, drugs, sex, gangsterism... That's really sad they always think that rock musics are only into bad side, how stupid they are...

Come on!!! These bands really are pure musicians, they know how to play music instruments, wrote and composed their own songs. Look at boys band, girls band, handsome or pretty look singers, what they know about music? All they know only did cover songs from old songs, showed their handsome or pretty look, that's really sucks!!!

I'm not that rich to travel and watch the concerts, I missed all the concerts last time because I was still a student and can't affort to watch it. Now at least I can affort it if they held in Malaysia, but... our country screwed it up!!! Damn it!!!

Please Keep Rock n Roll Musics Alive!!!

Promotion?... Frustration!!!

This is a real incident happened on myself and my housemate K. Me and K knew each other since we studying in Polytechnic. After graduated we further our part time degree study in UTM SPACE (out campus). During our studying, I joined government, then after few months K also joined government same department but different office with me. Anyway, K is an Indian.

Today, K called me and asking me did I get my promotion, I said no. I thought he got the offer and ready to congrats him, but he said no too, one of his colleague, E got the offered. We were so upset with the news. E is same level with me and K, but E is junior than me few months and only 1 day senior than K.

I don't know what is the government's policy or criteria to promote their staffs. If count on contribution, E is definitely less than us. If count on seniority, I'm more senior than him. If count on performance points, we are higher than him. If count on education, E only got his diploma but got our degree! If count on PTK exam, E is same with us.

Comparison about myself, K and E

About Myself,
I've represented my department in Badminton, Darts and Football games before. I joined many international seminars, dialogues, conferences before as a secretariat. I'm a committee member in my department's sports and welfare club. My performance points always at excellent level. I got my degree in civil engineering this year.

About K,
He handle many international seminars, dialogues, conferences before. He represented the department in Football game before. He won 'The Best Employee' awards before. He is the right hand man for his director. He got his degree civil engineering last year.

About E,
I'm not sure what he contributed before, I hardly see him. Everyone told me he is a lazy bugger, I don't know, I'm not close to him and I hardly talked to him.

So, who you think should get the promotion as 'senior assistant engineer' post? I don't bother I get it or not, I'm planning to leave government job soon to be an engineer. I'll be very happy if K get it, because he really deserved it.

Imagine you got a higher qualification but you work under a person who is lower education qualification and junior than you. That's what happened to our government system, they buried those can give better and more output staffs.

Another thing, government always encourage their staffs to further studies and upgrade themself. That's bullshit!!! They rather called inexperience person for interview to be an engineer. K has been waited more than a year but still haven't call for the interview. My another colleague in other state waited for three years only called for interview! Why those bumiputra so easy to get promotion just after their part time study? They just waited for few months only.

I'm not to create any racist issues, but to us as non-bumi really suffered with the 'unfair' system. It's very hard for me to make the decision to leave government job, but look at my future and quality of life, it's good to leave.

Promotion?... TIU!!!!!!!!!!!!

About The Doors (source from wikipedia)

The Doors were an American rock band that formed in 1965 in Los Angeles. The Doors' music included socially, psychologically, and politically influenced lyrics mostly written by 'The Lizard King', Jim Morrison. The precise drumming of John Densmore, the organ and bass organ of Ray Manzarek, and Robby Krieger's innovative guitar style, which showed the influence of flamenco, jazz, Indian, the blues and classical music, combined with Morrison's deep, expressive vocals to form a distinctive sound. Even though they were around for so few years they are still considered one of the greatest and most influential rock groups of all time.

The Doors

History

A chance meeting between acquaintances and UCLA film school students Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek on Venice beach in July 1965 led to the founding of The Doors, one of the premier acts of the late 1960s, in 1965 in Los Angeles, California. Morrison told Manzarek he had been writing songs and, at Manzarek's encouragement, sang "Moonlight Drive." Impressed by the quality of Morrison's lyric, Manzarek immediately suggested they form a band.

Vox-Organ-Player Ray Manzarek was already in the band called Rick And The Ravens with his brother Rick Manzarek while Robby Krieger and John Densmore were playing with The Psychedelic Rangers and knew Manzarek from shared meditation instruction. In August Densmore joined the group and, along with members of the Ravens and an unidentified female bass player, recorded a six-song demo on September 2. This was widely bootlegged and appeared in full on the 1997 Doors box set.

The Doors

That month the group recruited talented guitarist Robby Krieger and the final lineup—Morrison, Manzarek, Krieger and Densmore—was complete. The band took their name from the title of a book by Aldous Huxley, The Doors of Perception, which was in turn borrowed from a line of poetry by the 18th century artist and poet William Blake: "If the doors of perception were cleansed, every thing would appear to man as it is: infinite."

The Death of Jim Morrison

Morrison died under mysterious circumstances on 3 July 1971; his body was found in the bathtub of his apartment. It was concluded that he died of a heart attack, although it was later revealed that no autopsy had been performed before Morrison's body was buried at the Père-Lachaise Cemetery on July 7.

Rumors persisted for many years that Morrison had faked his death to escape the spotlight or had died at a Paris nightclub and that his body had been surreptitiously taken to his apartment. However, in his book Wonderland Avenue, Morrison's former associate Danny Sugerman states that during his last meeting with Courson -- which took place shortly before her own death from a heroin overdose -- she confessed that she had introduced Morrison to the drug and because he had a fear of needles, she had injected him with the dose that killed him.

I'm Not Handsome!!!

I just want to make a very clear statement here, I'm not handsome at all! I read many comments in my previous post about Mini Bloggers Meet, got many said I'm the most handsome among the group. It's like insulting on me, some never meet me before and gave me such a comment, come on... I'm not pleased with it, I felt is an insult.

I don't have blue eyes, I'm short, I'm ugly, I got more than 50% of white hair but I dyed into black color, my face like estate roads with full of potholes. I don't look like Tom Cruise, I'm not tall and 'yau yeng' like Chow Yuen Fatt, I'm not muscular like Arnold Schwarzenegger, I'm not smart as Albert Einstein.

I look little bit like Phua Chu Kang (PCK), but the real PCK is more funny and handsome than me, at least he got a big mole on his face, I don't have it. He is famous but I'm not. He got a wife but I don't have. He is rich but I'm poor.

Alright, now look closer on myself... Wait!!! Go get a plastic bag or maybe two to get ready for vomit, if you got heard attack please be calm before you proceed, here we go... jeng jeng jengggggggg®

Rehabilitation Program At Penchala River

This event was held on last Saturday morning at Taman Rimba Kiara, Taman Tun Dr. Ismail Kuala Lumpur. This charity and awareness program was organized by Global Environment Centre (GEC), CIMB Investment Bank and Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL).

The participants for this event were from GEC, DBKL, CIMB Investment Bank and Orphans. I represent my Department as special guest as a witness for this program. This 'Love Our Rivers' program has been done by GEC for years at the same place. The upstream (starting point) of Penchala River is the only one 'cleanness' river in Kuala Lumpur. I drank the water before, and it's so clean and refreshing.

The main purpose for this program is to create awareness and eduction knowledge to children and adults how important the rivers as our main water source for our daily needs. The program contains how to rehabilitate the river by cleaning, planting wetland pants and bio monitoring education.

Opening speech by YB Ooi, adviser of DBKL.

Dr. Kali from GEC giving a short briefing to participants.

Collecting rubbish in the river by CIMB staffs.

Planting 'Cat Tail', one of wetland's plant by orphan.

For your information, wetland plants help to filter and treat polluted water. Many people don't know about it, they thought is a bushes then cut it off.

Digging hole to plant 'Cat Tail' by CIMB staffs.

Planting the 'Cat Tail' by DBKL staffs.

Carrying rocks and sands to make drop structural.

Team work.

Completion of work.

'Drop Structural' (with stones/rocks) is to slower down the river water flow. It will reduce the erosion of river banks and prevent the wetland's plants washing off by strong water flow.

Bio monitoring education to orphans.

Bio monitoring is to monitor the water quality of a river by using living creatures as an indicator. This method is very effective and without using any chemical test on the water. Picture above shows the test of oxygen content in the water. The parameters to determine the water quality status are Temperature, Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Suspended Solid (SS), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), pH Level, Conductivity, Minerals and Chemicals content.

Many thanks to GEC for their hard work on environment concern. If every Malaysians have the mind set of taking care of our environment, I'm sure we all will live in a healthy and clean country. Please think about our next generation, we don't want to live in illness condition, we don't want to wear mask all the time.

Please Love Our Environment!!!

Rock n Roll Music Is Dead?!

I wonder what happen to Rock n Roll musics industry in our country, I'm really disappointed with the current Malaysians are not appreciate with this kind of music.

Last Saturday Night I went to Carnegie's at Central Plaza, Jalan Sultan Ismail with some friends. That was my second visit to this place. I swear I won't go to that place anymore!

At the main entrance you can see the big sign with 'The Spirit Of Rock' as the motto, what I can say is FUCK IT! Where is the spirit gone?!!! For the whole night I was sitting inside there, I can't hear any single of Rock n Roll song played in there! What I heard was only house, trance, R&B, rap and hip-hop songs only. I was feeling unwell with it and I got headache, I can't even got the mood to drink at all, I only manage to drink 1 mug of beer and 1 pint of KilKenny, after that I really drunk and feeling damn unwell.

The interior design is a rock concept with all the classic rock band posters and pictures. But the musics really SUCKS!!! No wonder this place going to close down end of December 2006 because lack of customers, they deserved it!

Carnegie's Kuala Lumpur

However few months back I went to Hard Rock Cafe Kuala Lumpur at Wisma Concorde Jalan Sultan Ismail, that was my first and last visit to this place too!

Hard Rock Cafe used to be the most famous Rock n Roll music cafe in around the world, but the one in Kuala Lumpur is really SUCKS!!! I was there just wanted to hear live band in rock musics, in the end was a big disappointment for me. The band only played hip-hop, rap, R&B... when the band take a break, the DJ only played the same types of those non-rock songs. What the hell is that? I paid the cover charge and I was just hoping to hear some good rock musics, but the musics really kill me off!!! I think this is the only Hard Rock Cafe in the world never play any rock songs!

I just managed to finish a small bottle of stout and I walked off from that place. It was a huge disappointment for me! With such a well known rock cafe in the world, but they really kill the rock musics off.

Many of my friends went to other Hard Rock Cafe in other countries, they told me non of them like what happen in Malaysia, they really played more rock songs than other types of songs. Is the DJ don't know how to play the songs or the customers don't know how to listen to rock songs? IF YOU DON'T PLAY ROCK SONGS THEN DON'T OPEN SUCH KIND OF CAFES WITH ROCK CONCEPT!!! IT'S LIKE YOU ARE PROMOTING SANDWICH BUT YOU ARE SELLING SALSA.

Hard Rock Cafe Kuala Lumpur

I'm getting pissed off with music industry now days, they always think that rock musics is related with satanic, violence, drugs, wild sex... Damn it!!! You try to look at music videos (non-rock) now days, they are showing event worst than what they think the 'bad side' of rock musics. Please wake up!!!

Last time we have Classic Rock Channel on radio, but they stopped it on air and now only can listen from Astro, I don't have Astro here, if I have I won't listen radio channel through my TV set, I rather listen to radio when I'm driving. Then they came out with WOW FM with more rock songs, but in the end it closed down too.

I'm not to offense other types of musics, I just pissed off with how they treat rock musics in such a 'so called' rock cafe/pub/bistro. My little wish is please keep Rock n Roll music alive!!!

For Those About To Rock, I Salute You!!!

Just another reminder again about Together-Gather Year End Bloggers Party, we really wish you all can join us for this first ever grand bloggers meet in this country. We still lack of participants and sponsors. Time is running out, please do confirm us your attendance as soon as possible. Any company willing to sponsor something? We are very welcome it.

Alright... back to my usual business, this weekend my selection of classic band is QUEEN. I guess most of you heard this band or their songs before. 'We Will Rock You'... this song still rock until present days, many bands did the cover song somemore. 'We Are The Champion'... used to play on almost every sport games such as Olympic, World Cup, etc. My personal favorite tune is 'Bohemian Rhapsody', this song mixed with all kind of musics, very interesting indeed. My other favorite tunes are 'Another One Bites Dust' and 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love'.

About Queen (source from wikipedia)

Queen are an English rock band formed by Brian May, Freddie Mercury, and Roger Taylor in London, England in 1970 from the remains of Smile, with John Deacon completing the lineup the following year. Britain's most successful band of the past three decades, the band became popular during the mid-to-late 1970s and still retain an extremely large international fan base. Although they were largely dismissed by the majority of music critics, especially those in the United States, Queen have more recently been recognized as having made significant contributions to such genres as arena rock, glam rock, hard rock, heavy metal, pop rock, and progressive rock, amongst others.

History

Brian May and Roger Taylor were playing in a semi-professional band called Smile with Tim Staffell. Freddie Mercury (then Freddie Bulsara) was Staffell's roommate at Ealing Arts College and followed Smile's music closely. As the singer in other bands, such as Ibex in 1969 and Sour Milk Sea in 1970, Mercury was very eager to share his ideas so Smile could develop. Staffell would leave the band to join another band, Humpy Bong, and Smile split up. Mercury persuaded May and Taylor to continue, however, changing the band's name from "Smile" to "Queen" in the process. John Deacon would join the lineup in February 1971.

Their first chart entry was the 1974 single "Seven Seas of Rhye." More notable was "Killer Queen" from their third album Sheer Heart Attack, which climbed to #2 on the charts. Their greatest success came in 1975 with "Bohemian Rhapsody", a single from A Night at the Opera. In United Kingdom, it spent nine weeks at #1, and was also a worldwide hit. For the next sixteen years, Queen would remain active, producing numerous other hits such as "We Will Rock You", "We Are the Champions", "Another One Bites the Dust", and "Radio Ga Ga." In the 1980s, their popularity waned in North America, though they continued to be a successful act in other parts of the world.

In November 1991, Freddie Mercury died of complications from AIDS. The band would experience a resurgence in popularity the next year in North America after "Bohemian Rhapsody" appeared prominately in the hit comedy Wayne's World. After the release of their 1995 album Made in Heaven - composed of Mercury's leftover recordings from before his death - Queen became relatively inactive. John Deacon would retire from the music business in the late 1990s, and it wouldn't be until 2004 that Queen + Paul Rodgers - a collaboration between May, Taylor, and Free/Bad Company singer Paul Rodgers - began.
