Band Of The Week - The Rolling Stones

First of all I would like to pay a tribute to James Brown, the Godfather of Soul who died on Christmas day early morning. His rapid-footed dancing inspired Mick Jagger (The Rolling Stones) and Michael Jackson among others. What a great lost of another legend on this planet. Rest in peace James Brown the Godfather of Soul.

Time flies, it's another weekend again, it's the first weekend of year 2007. This weekend my rock band selection is The Rolling Stones. To me, this band is the symbol of Rock n Roll. As usual I'll feature some of the songs, Satisfaction is one of the biggest hit ever, Jumpin' Jack Flash also another big hit, Sympathy For The Devil is one of my favorite tune and Paint It Black was the theme song for 'Tour Of Duty' series.

About The Rolling Stones (from wikipedia)

The Rolling Stones are an internationally popular English rock band that helped spearhead the British Invasion of the early 1960s. Formed in London in 1963 by Brian Jones, the band was eventually led by the songwriting partnership of singer Mick Jagger and guitarist Keith Richards who became one of the most prolific and successful songwriting duos in the history of popular music.

The Rolling Stones (1964)

The group began playing American Blues,R&B and Rock n' Roll, though they later branched out, performing works influenced by such diverse musical genres as country, psychedelia, reggae and disco. However, The Stones remain most popular for their rock music.

The Rolling Stones (Present)

The Stones' image of unkempt and surly youth is one musicians still emulate. During their 1969 American tour, the Stones were introduced and have often since been referred to as "The Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World." Noted for their longevity, they have released a total of 29 albums of original work, numerous compliations and retrospectives, and had 37 top-10 singles. In 1989, The Rolling Stones were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2004 they were rated #4 in Rolling Stone Magazine's 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.

The first time I heard 'Satisfaction' was from Britney Spears. She did a cover of it some years ago. Sheesh. But of course, nothing beats the ori version :D
