Promotion?... Frustration!!!

This is a real incident happened on myself and my housemate K. Me and K knew each other since we studying in Polytechnic. After graduated we further our part time degree study in UTM SPACE (out campus). During our studying, I joined government, then after few months K also joined government same department but different office with me. Anyway, K is an Indian.

Today, K called me and asking me did I get my promotion, I said no. I thought he got the offer and ready to congrats him, but he said no too, one of his colleague, E got the offered. We were so upset with the news. E is same level with me and K, but E is junior than me few months and only 1 day senior than K.

I don't know what is the government's policy or criteria to promote their staffs. If count on contribution, E is definitely less than us. If count on seniority, I'm more senior than him. If count on performance points, we are higher than him. If count on education, E only got his diploma but got our degree! If count on PTK exam, E is same with us.

Comparison about myself, K and E

About Myself,
I've represented my department in Badminton, Darts and Football games before. I joined many international seminars, dialogues, conferences before as a secretariat. I'm a committee member in my department's sports and welfare club. My performance points always at excellent level. I got my degree in civil engineering this year.

About K,
He handle many international seminars, dialogues, conferences before. He represented the department in Football game before. He won 'The Best Employee' awards before. He is the right hand man for his director. He got his degree civil engineering last year.

About E,
I'm not sure what he contributed before, I hardly see him. Everyone told me he is a lazy bugger, I don't know, I'm not close to him and I hardly talked to him.

So, who you think should get the promotion as 'senior assistant engineer' post? I don't bother I get it or not, I'm planning to leave government job soon to be an engineer. I'll be very happy if K get it, because he really deserved it.

Imagine you got a higher qualification but you work under a person who is lower education qualification and junior than you. That's what happened to our government system, they buried those can give better and more output staffs.

Another thing, government always encourage their staffs to further studies and upgrade themself. That's bullshit!!! They rather called inexperience person for interview to be an engineer. K has been waited more than a year but still haven't call for the interview. My another colleague in other state waited for three years only called for interview! Why those bumiputra so easy to get promotion just after their part time study? They just waited for few months only.

I'm not to create any racist issues, but to us as non-bumi really suffered with the 'unfair' system. It's very hard for me to make the decision to leave government job, but look at my future and quality of life, it's good to leave.

Promotion?... TIU!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know you want to stop this topic, but have you thought of working in Middle East? Plenty of opportunities here. Almost zero discrimination, you get higher pay is your name is Kenny White, but pay is still good and more importantly, TAX-FREE!!
